McCain to Obama: I Must Break You

Posted by The Dude on May 23, 2008

One good way to decide the next president: A Good Old Fashioned brawl. I got $50 on a McCain knockout.
Editor’s Note: The odds on Obama crying at least once (before and after) the fight are also very high…7 to 2, the last time I checked.

McCain on Wednesday:
“I have the knowledge and the experience and the judgment to lead this nation,” McCain said. “My opponent does not.”
“I admire and respect Sen. Obama. For a young man with very little experience, he’s done very well. I appreciate his very great lack of experience and knowledge of the issues. He’s been very successful.”

Translation: Back off you young wipper-snapper. You are a B.S. artist who has snowed the media and the left in this country, but not me. Oh and you make stuff up too.

Dallas Cowboys Draft: Success or Failure?

Posted by The Dude on April 28, 2008

The Dude is a lifelong Cowboys fan and was impressed with their draft over the weekend. Loved the two running backs but what about receiver?

Best quote from a new Cowboy came from the second round tight end, Martellus Bennett, who said, “I’m really excited. Any quarterback that can get Jessica Simpson, I’ve got to play with him.”

Dallas Cowboys 2008 draft bios

From Dallas Morning News

RB FELIX JONESRound (Overall pick): 1 (22)

Ht./Wt.: 5-10, 207 pounds — School: Arkansas

Why him? While Jones isn’t equipped to shoulder a heavy load, he adds a game-breaking element to the offense. He also has experience returning kickoffs.

What about him? Averaged 7.66 yards per carry over his three years at Arkansas, the second-best per-carry average in Div. I-A history, but only 10.2 carries per game. … Left school as Arkansas’ all-time leader in kickoff return yardage and tied Willie Gault’s SEC record with four kickoff returns for TDs. …                     — Albert Breer

CB MIKE JENKINSRound (Overall pick): 1 (25)

Ht./Wt.: 5-11, 197 pounds — School: South Florida

Why him? The Cowboys were looking for a cornerback who can play on their nickel and dime packages. Jenkins can also return punts and kickoffs.

What about him? Jenkins was born in Newenburg, Germany, but moved a month later because his father, who was a Marine, was transferred. … Is the eighth player in Big East history to return a kickoff 100 yards for a touchdown.    — Calvin Watkins

TE MARTELLUS BENNETTRound (Overall pick): 2 (61)

Ht./Wt.: 6-7, 252 pounds — School: Texas A&M

Why him? The Cowboys needed to add quality depth behind Pro Bowler Jason Witten.

What about him? Holds the school record with at least one reception in 29 straight games … Finished career with 105 catches for 1,246 yards and 10 touchdowns … Played on the Aggie basketball for two seasons before concentrating on football.         — Todd Archer

RB TASHARD CHOICERound (Overall pick): 4 (123)

Ht./Wt.: 5-11, 211 pounds — School: Georgia Tech

Why him? Even though they selected Felix Jones in the first round, the Cowboys need running back depth. Choice showed durability with four games of 30 or more carries as a senior.

What about him? Became the first tailback since Virginia’s Thomas Jones (1998-99) to lead the ACC in rushing in consecutive seasons, finishing with 1,379 yards as a senior. … Started his career at Oklahoma before transferring after his redshirt freshman year.    — Todd Archer

CB ORLANDO SCANDRICKRound (Overall pick): 5 (143)

Ht./Wt.: 5-11, 198 pounds — School: Boise State

Why him? The Cowboys need more depth at cornerback, and there is no guarantee Pacman Jones will play in 2008. Also, Wade Phillips wants speed on defense, and Scandrick ran a 4.32 in the 40 at the combine.

What about him? Left after his junior season. … In 12 starts, he finished with 46 tackles, six pass breakups and four blocked kicks. … Had a career-high 10 tackles against Wyoming. … Has a vertical jump of 33½            — Calvin Watkins

Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z8WPaHnnNuI

DE ERIK WALDENRound (Overall pick): 6 (167)

Ht./Wt.: 6-2, 246 pounds — School: Middle Tennessee

Why him? Wade Phillips was impressed by the pass rusher’s determination in playing his senior year through a turf toe injury and showing well against elite opponents such as LSU. Walden, who was not invited to the combine, was a two-time All-Sun Belt pick.

What about him? Like fellow Sun Belt alum DeMarcus Ware, Walden will transition from college defensive end to Cowboys outside linebacker. He played some linebacker as a sophomore. … Had a career-high 11.5 sacks as a junior.       — Albert Breer

Is Bush the Worst President Ever? The Dude Thinks Not.

Posted by The Dude on April 16, 2008

I know most of you have seen this poll of historians (mostly history professors) that says a vast majority of them rate President George W. Bush as the worst President ever.

Fine. I think they are dead wrong and rather stupid for doing so at this time in history, but what do I know.

I will say however that it is widely accepted that a President cannot be honestly and unbiasedly judged until long after his term is up. So, I think the jury is still out on President Bush.
What if Afghanistan and Iraq become the first in a line of Arab nations to turn toward democracy? Will that change their minds?

A great editorial today in Investor’s Business Daily nailed it.

One aspect I found particurlarly interesting and enlightening was the following:
“History professors tend to be a Democratic lot. A study conducted by Daniel Klein and Charlotta Stern in 2003 found that the Democrat-to-Republican ratio among them is roughly 9.5-1.”

Ding, Ding, Ding!

They even provided a list that tends to undermine the cosensus of the Democrats, oops, I mean historians. Check it out:

• “Tax breaks for the rich” is the big lie come alive. Under the Bush tax cuts, 25 million Americans at the bottom half of the income scale have been wiped off the federal income tax rolls.

And the rich? The federal tax burden of the top 1% of earners has gone from 19% under Jimmy Carter (in 1980) to 39.4%. Meanwhile, the bottom 50% paid 3.1% of taxes in 2005. In 1995, they paid 4.6%.

• Since Bush has been in office, pro-Americans have been elected to lead Germany (Angela Merkel), France (Nicolas Sarkozy), Italy (Silvio Berlusconi) and Canada (Stephen Harper). Both Britain and Australia remain close to the U.S. though both are under governments less pro-American than their predecessors. Who’s been alienated? Iran, which has been at war with the U.S. for nearly 20 years?

History professors need to stick to teaching history. They seem to be seeing the unfolding of events through a cloudy lens. “

If Bush is so bad, then why are other countries electing Pro-American leaders? Hmmm…

Senator Obama, a few questions please?

Posted by The Dude on April 11, 2008

20 Questions for Barack Obama by John Hawkins:

Since this man could become the next U.S. President, I think it is only fair that the media ask him some of the following questions:

The Real Life Superman

* You’ve made unifying the American public and putting our political divisions behind us one of the central themes of your campaign. Yet, National Journal ranked you as the single most liberal senator in 2007. So, which liberal beliefs of yours are you willing to give up for unity’s sake?

* Along the same lines, John McCain has been behind numerous pieces of prominent bi-partisan legislation. So, if voters are looking for a candidate who can unify the country, wouldn’t he be a better choice than you?

* If you didn’t agree with Jeremiah Wright’s racist and anti-American views, why did you take your own children to his church and expose them to what he had to say?

* Given our budget deficit, how can you justify giving away 845 billion dollars of our tax money to other nations over the next 13 years via your Global Poverty Act?

* Given that you’re pro-partial birth abortion, would you support overturning the Partial Birth Abortion Ban Act of 2003?

* Many people believe your plan for Iraq would be viewed as a huge victory for Al-Qaeda in much of the world, would lead to the collapse of democracy in that country, would boost Iran’s standing in the region, and would lead to genocide on a massive scale. Do you believe that those things won’t happen or do you believe that those are prices we should be willing to pay to leave Iraq?
* You’ve often spoken about what the positive effects of pulling out of Iraq will be, but what do you think the negative consequences of your choice to lose the war in Iraq will be?

* Given that we’re fighting a war on terror, why do you think it’s appropriate for you to continue to personally associate with terrorists like William Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn who bombed buildings on American soil, attempted to murder Army officers, and even today, publicly say that they have no regrets about their actions?

* You claimed that you “never saw or approved” an “Illinois voter group’s detailed questionnaire” that had you taking some embarrassingly liberal stands “on gun control, the death penalty and abortion.” You chalked up those answers on the questionnaire to an overzealous aide. Yet, it turned out that you were blatantly lying and were actually interviewed for the questionnaire and even sent in your own handwritten notes. So, if you’re willing to tell such a bald-faced lie to cover up your liberal positions, why should the American people believe you now when you claim, on issue after issue, to have flip flopped to a more moderate position than you held just a few years back?

* According to an April 23, 2007 article from the Chicago Sun-Times called “Barack Obama and his slumlord patron, “Obama, who has worked as a lawyer and a legislator to improve living conditions for the poor, took campaign donations from Rezko even as Rezko’s low-income housing empire was collapsing, leaving many African-American families in buildings riddled with problems — including squalid living conditions, vacant apartments, lack of heat, squatters and drug dealers.” Do you have any regrets about teaming up with a slumlord to further your own political career on the backs of the very poor people you claimed to be helping?

Mr. Carter Goes to Damascus

Posted by The Dude on April 9, 2008

Report: Former US President Jimmy Carter is preparing to meet with the leader of Hamas, Khaled Meshal, in Syria this month. A long time supporter of Palestinian extremists, it is no surprise that Carter would take the initiative to break bread with one of the most depraved terrorists on the planet Earth.

But, how will the media cover it?

Caption: Carter, with another terrorist friend of his, Yasser Arafat.

Another reason for West Virginians to be proud…

Posted by The Dude on April 8, 2008

Not only does West Virginia have the only remaining former KKK member in the United States Senate (Robert Byrd), its other Senator, Jay Rockefeller, is an idiotic weasel, which he proved rather concretely over the weekend, when he said the following to the Charleston Gazette:

“McCain was a fighter pilot, who dropped laser-guided missiles from 35,000 feet. He was long gone when they hit. What happened when they [the missiles] get to the ground? He doesn’t know. You have to care about the lives of people. McCain never gets into those issues.”

Rockefeller has since apologized…

100% Taxation? Obama’s father loved the idea. What about Junior?

Posted by The Dude on April 7, 2008

PrestoPundit is all over the story. Obama’s father was a staunch socialist and Anti-Western person. In fact, he advocated that the government take control of all “European” and “Asian” controlled businesses in Africa and turn them over to the “indigenous” population. But, don’t stop reading here…it gets much better…
